Hakka Mee, Carpenter Street Kuching

Starter:
I was kind of disappointed at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, but the Transformers movie was great! Thank you Michael Bay for rekindling my childhood, and thank you Megan Fox for being in the movie.

Carpenter Street, Kuching has an abundance of cafes and kopitiams well known for its delicious food - from the famous Bishopgate "cheng" to chicken rice and fried chicken wings. These places are usually brim full with customers, some willing to wait more than an hour just for a taste of their famous delicacies.

One of my recent discovery that is perhaps less known is the Hakka Mee at Nyan Shin Cafe.

When I arrived around 9:30am on a Saturday morning, tables were aplenty. Don't be fooled though - the food is excellent. The Hakka Mee stall sells other variation of mee, kueh teow and bee hoon.

Hakka Mee can be best defined as thin, flat, yellow noodles. In fact, there are other types of thin, flat, yellow noodles so I best just leave the pictures to define it.

Hearing a conversation between the stall owner and some customers on another table, I assume you can customize your mee according to your whims and desire. I on the other hand, went straight for the Special Hakka Mee, served with lean pieces of beef.

Here's how it came out:

If you look at the picture, you'll notice that it is sprinkled with golden-brown cubes. No those are not fried garlic. Those are the tiny bits of half pork skin, half pork fat that is crunchy and taste ORGASMIC~!!! It really sexes up the Hakka Mee.

Anyone joining me for the next trip?
